Lubricants that meet six points are safer
During sexual life, a woman's excitement requires emotional investment and the transmission of neural signals. It is normal for the private parts to have less "water" during periods of tension, fatigue or specific times. Women often suffer from dryness in their private parts during postpartum, perimenopausal and postmenopausal periods. Just like the skin, the vaginal mucosa can also lack water. Using lubricants is like applying a "moisturizing mask" to the delicate vaginal mucosa, which not only enhances the pleasure of both parties during sexual life but also prevents excessive friction from causing lacerations.
When conducting gynecological examinations, if the patient's vaginal opening is relatively dry, doctors will also use medical lubricants to reduce the discomfort caused by the entry of instruments.
However, if you are concerned that lubricants may cause allergies, vaginitis and other issues, you can pay attention to the following points when purchasing -
1) The ingredients are relatively simple and transparent. Some special groups of people should be particularly vigilant about several ingredients: for instance, glycerin. Women who have had candidal vaginitis should not use it as it may increase the risk of recurrence. Flavorings and pigments are best avoided by those who are prone to allergies.
2) The pH value is preferably between 3.8 and 4.5. It is close to the natural environment of the vagina and reduces the disruption to the balance of vaginal flora.
3) The osmotic pressure should be ≤380 millimoles per kilogram. It is similar to human body fluids and is less likely to damage mucosal cells.
4) Appropriate viscosity. The lubrication effect is long-lasting and it is not prone to dryness.
5) Good water solubility. Easy to clean and leaves no residue.
6) Strong compatibility. Relatively speaking, water-based lubricants have stronger compatibility than oil-based and silicone-based ones and do not react with latex condoms or silicone toys.
However, correct usage is equally important. First, the amount used must be sufficient. Second, post-cleaning should be gentle.
Many people add it bit by bit like squeezing toothpaste, which only increases the friction. The correct approach is to apply an adequate amount to the penis or sex toy from the very beginning. Afterwards, just rinse the external genitalia with warm water. Avoid using body wash or rinsing the inside of the vagina.
